Instructional Design

Do you have a training need? Utilizing a performance framework approach to ensure the feasibility of the operation (deliverable requirements, process effectiveness, knowledge and skill requirements, availability of resources and effort management requirements) ensures that training dollars won't be spent trying to solve non-knowledge barriers impacting performance. [Tell me more]

Front End Analysis (FEA)

Before development of the solution begins, a clear determination of the knowledge requirements must be made. We recognize that there is always a knowledge need whenever new people, new processes, new policies, new equipment, and new performance requirements are brought to the worksite. Identification of the need-to-know requirements for a specific audience drives the curriculum design. [Tell me more]

Curriculum Design and Development

We consider the best training as that which solves the knowledge deficiency in the shortest amount of time. Considerations in designing the training solution include: specific need, urgency, frequency of task performance, size of audience, cost and budget, length of training, geographic distribution, available technology, etc.

We utilize an instructional system design approach reflecting the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate) to better meet the need of the customer and their learners. Our approach utilizes subject matter experts (SMEs) as partners to help identify and approve learning objectives, content, real-life exercises, and knowledge assessments that we create. Performance (or Job) Aids

We develop customized performance-oriented aids (i.e., flow charts, reference materials, pop-up screens and other instant feedback mechanisms, etc.) that guide, facilitate or remind the user toward the completion of the task. Our performance-oriented aid may be used in place or, or in addition to, an instructional experience.

We develop custom performance aids, when requested, upon completion of an effective Front End Analysis. [Tell me more]

Instructor-led Training (ILT)

We develop Instructor-led training for face-to-face delivery of instructional materials. Our ILTs generally include instructor or facilitator guides (outlined or scripted), accompanying power point slides (as appropriate), exercises, student materials and assessment packages (as requested).

We provide train-the-trainer sessions for instructors of ILTs that we develop and can provide instructors (subject to client approval), if requested. [Tell me more]

Virtual Instructor-led Training (VILT)

We develop highly-interactive Virtual Instructor-led training for remote delivery of instructional materials. Our VILTs generally include instructor or facilitator guides, power points (as appropriate), student materials and assessment mechanisms.

Our VILT attendees learn through instruction, demonstration, robust discussion (through break-out rooms, chatting, polling and white-boarding) and are evaluated through online quizzes and instructor feedback. We use functionality options within readily available software programs and platforms to deliver content effectively.

We provide train-the-trainer sessions covering both content and navigation for the VILTs we develop and can provide instructors (subject to client approval), if requested. [Tell me more]

E-Learning/Online Training (OLT)

We develop customized Online Training which uses recorded narration (usually two voices) plus real-life workplace scenarios to deliver the exact need-to-know content to the learner in a manner timely to their schedules.

Our OLT packages (recorded narration, Power Point slides, and assessment may be delivered the internet or by disc. Typically informative and enjoyable, professionally narrated and artistically designed, we are often asked to embed recorded messages from senior staff, customers, etc., to enhance the learning experience. As with other training designs, a FEA is required. [Tell me more!]

Self-study and Learner Controlled Instruction (LCI)

Similar to OLT, but not delivered online, we develop self-study booklets and audio-graphic (recorded narration plus Power Points) to meet the knowledge need. The resulting self-study program is of a lower cost due to its lower technology requirements. Access to the materials is often through the mail.

We develop Learner Controlled Instruction which places the quest for knowledge in the hands of the learner. Based on the FEA, we develop just the assessment device (reflecting the knowledge requirements) and a list of internal resources (i.e., existing reference manuals, operating procedures, department heads, etc.) which the learner accesses and utilizes to complete the course requirements. A facilitator (usually internal) guide is provided. Effective and very low cost. [Tell me more!]

Evaluation/Effectiveness Studies

We develop evaluation materials and conduct effectiveness studies reflecting KirkPatrick's four levels: student reaction, learning gain, behavior change, and impact to the organization. We work with the client to determine the level of evaluation desired and develop the materials, as appropriate.

If requested, we will also develop evaluations for instruction we did not develop. We will also develop an evaluation based upon a FEA that can be used by the client for pre-development needs assessment.
